BRANDrill-The Ultimate Branding Showdown had again come up with a brand new season in 2018. This time the signature national branding competition of Voice of Business was bigger and better than the expectations. BRANDrill was launched for the first time in 2017 to help students to learn about branding more practically and think out of the box. Being a business student one must have a clear conception and understanding of branding and to do so in a greater extent, VoB has created a platform to enhance the knowledge and take a great experience by participating in a national branding competition with many more enthusiastic minds all over the country from different universities.
BRANDrill season 2 was launched on March 29, 2018, with the option of both online and offline registration with 20 club partners all over the country from different universities. Participants had to form a team of 3/4 members and submit an idea online as the first round and around 200 teams had registered for the first phase. Top 50 teams were selected from that online submission and they had a chance to participate in an interactive Branding Workshop with Mr. Syed Gousul Alam Shaon, Managing Partner and Country Head of Grey Advertising Bangladesh, Md. Fahim Hossain, Head of Marketing of Good Luck Stationary and Md. Sajjadul Islam, Head of Marketing of Pipes, Bathroom settings and Electrical Accessories Business of RFL group and got direct instructions of the second round. The second phase on 28th April consisted of making a TVC and presenting branding ideas. After a tough fight, the top 10 teams were selected for the grand finale of BRANDrill 2018. The grand finale took place on May 14 at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building, University of Dhaka.
After the competition of brainstorming among the teams, Goal Diggers from Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka managed to be the winner and was awarded 100,000 BDT. The first runner-up team is Neophytes from the Islamic University of Technology, and the second runner-up team is Pyro from IBA, University of Dhaka. The teams were awarded 60,000 BDT and 40,000 BDT respectively along with certificates and crests. The judges who made the day shine were Sajjadul Islam, senior brand manager of PRAN-RFL, Md Iftekhar Alarm, brand strategy, and creative lead manager of Grameenphone and Muhammad Ismail Hossain, professor, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. Some other corporate individuals and faculty members of the University of Dhaka were also present at the finale.
