Since its inception in 2007, Voice of Business (VoB), Bangladesh's first and largest student-run publication team, has worked tirelessly for the students of the Faculty of Business Studies at the University of Dhaka. VoB is rapidly expanding as a result of its vision of developing a community of business students, leaders, and a strong network. Its mission is to provide opportunities for business students to develop their skills and knowledge by connecting them with prominent business leaders from their era and forging strong relationships with industry experts from diverse fields.
To commemorate their tenth anniversary, they launched 'VoB week 2017' on September 12, during which they unveiled their eighth issue. The magazine's cover story, titled 'The Leadership Tale: Journey to the Pinnacle,' focused on women's empowerment in the corporate sector. The unveiling ceremony was organized and inaugurated by chief patron Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, dean of the University of Dhaka's Faculty of Business Studies. He expressed gratitude to the guests and stated, 'The new generation has the power of social media, which has advanced them significantly.' 'VoB's high-quality publications always assist readers in gaining an understanding of current business issues,' he added. 'You are only as big as your dreams,' special guest Faisal Ahmed, chief economist of the Bangladesh Bank, said. 'Your roots and dreams will determine how strong your foundation is and how far you can go. To accomplish your goals, strive to think globally.' Asjadul Kibria, planning editor of the Financial Express, urged students to write regularly and stated, 'The new generation is already one step ahead; they are representing Bangladesh globally and discussing economics, finance, and other critical issues.'
The first day concluded with the cutting of a cake on the auspicious occasion of the 10-year anniversary. The second day featured a panel discussion on women icons in Bangladesh's corporate world. Zara Mahbub, BRAC Bank Ltd.'s head of communication, and Jesmin Ehsan, Ericsson Limited's head of finance, were in attendance. During the second session of the second day, business leaders discussed the art of branding. The day concluded with a celebration of the company's tenth anniversary.
Throughout the event, the Voice of Business's landmark was also home to seminars on a variety of topics and outdoor activities. On September 12 and 13, approximately 700 students participated in the program's various activities. Fouzia Fariha, a second-year student in the Department of Finance, stated, 'VoB week was an incredible event where we learned a lot from some incredible personalities.' Shabnam Sanjeri, another second-year student in the Department of Marketing, stated, 'We had the opportunity to learn about the ideas and perspectives of a variety of experienced individuals and also shared our own. This interaction enriched our knowledge and expanded our horizons.'
Over the last decade, VoB has established itself as the faculty of business studies' spokesperson, promoting business leadership and molding young business minds. As a business publication, Voice of Business aspires to bridge the divide between aspiring entrepreneurs and the corporate world. The magazine delves into the ins and outs of today's business world through profiles of inspirational business leaders, industry innovation, a global perspective, and career guidance.
