Business executives and BBA/MBA students seeking employment are frequently in desperate need of a newspaper that caters to their specific needs. Apart from a few university-based periodicals and business sections in newspapers, there is little else available. The Voice of Business is the University of Dhaka's sole student-run journal dedicated to business. VoB, which is run by students from the Faculty of Business Studies' eight departments, attempts to bridge the divide between academic life and the corporate world for business students.

On March 31, 2013, VOB kicked off a two-day event named "The Voice of Business Week 2012-2013," launching the fifth issue of their newspaper, which features student and faculty work as well as interviews with prominent corporate leaders.

The first day covered the inauguration ceremony, with chief guests Prof. Dr. Kamal Uddin (Treasurer, University of Dhaka) and Annisul Huq (former president of FBCCI, former president of BGMEA, and chairman of Mohammadi Group) offering words of encouragement to the VOB team and assembled media personnel. The Vice Chancellor of DU, AAMS Arefin Siddique, was slated to come as the primary guest, but was unable to do so owing to unavoidable circumstances. In the evening, Kazi Monirul Kabir, a Google country consultant, led a presentation on Google's operations in Bangladesh.

On day 2, the theme of Women Empowerment in Bangladesh featured many speakers from a diverse range of corporate backgrounds. On Day 2, Sara Zaker, deputy manager of Asiatic 360, Rubana Huq, MD of Mohammadi Group, Geeti Ara Safia Chowdhury, CEO of Adcomm Ltd., and Rubaba Dowla, Chief Service Officer of Airtel Bangladesh, were all there to discuss formal clothes, grooming, and corporate behavior and communication.
